Pyrus calleryana Capital, Ornamental Pear

Pyrus Capital is a super narrow, form and possibly the most popular deciduous Ornamental Pear in Australia, is a cultivar of ornamental pear tree that is commonly used in landscaping and urban settings. The foliage of 'Capital' is dark green and glossy, and it turns shades of orange, red, and purple in the fall. The tree produces small white flowers in the spring that are followed by small, inedible fruit.

'Capital' is valued for its upright, space-saving growth habit and its ability to tolerate urban environments, including pollution, heat, and drought. It is often used as a street tree or as a vertical accent in gardens and landscapes.

An excellent choice for narrow, restricted areas, around car parks, along narrow medians in both the public and private domain. Luscious dark green foliage in spring which changes to reddish-purple in summer. Also has large white flowers during spring. Can even be espaliered if preferred.

Grows to a height of 8mt & 2-3mt wide. Mulching during summer will help prevent the roots drying out, and help maintain a healthy appearance. Drought tolerant once established, Minimal pruning required,  However they can be grown as a screen espalier form if required. 

Will benefit from feeding twice per year with a complete plant food and liquid fertiliser.
