Prefer a full sun or partly shaded position in well drained soil, will tolerate coastal conditions. Frost protection would be beneficial for young plants. To grow Metrosideros 'Tahiti' in Melbourne and suburban areas, plant it in a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but avoid overwatering. 'Tahiti' is tolerant of a range of soil types and is relatively low-maintenance once established. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape. Protect from frost in colder months.
