Liriope Big Blue

A very hardy grass-like plant with a profusion of purple/blue flower spikes in late spring and early summer. Liriope Big Blue plant is ideal for small gardens, rockeries, borders, and general landscaping. Grows approx 50cm tall x 50cm wide. Prefers a slightly shaded position and keep fairly moist during warm summer months.  

Liriope "Big Blue" is prized for its attractive foliage and vibrant blue-purple flowers. It typically grows to a height of 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) and spreads through rhizomes to form dense clumps. The leaves are long, narrow, and grass-like, with a dark green color that provides an excellent backdrop for the flowers.

The flowers of Liriope "Big Blue" appear in late summer or early fall and are borne on erect spikes that rise above the foliage. The flowers are small, bell-shaped, and have a deep blue to purple hue, adding a splash of color to the garden. After blooming, small black berries may develop, which can attract birds.

Liriope "Big Blue" is a hardy plant that thrives in partial shade to full shade conditions. It prefers moist, well-drained soil but can tolerate a range of soil types. Once established, it is relatively drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, making it a popular choice for ground covers, borders, or mass plantings.
