Sizing guide

Ground cover or climber. The leaves are grey-green and divided into three leaflets, a characteristic of the genus. The leaves are about 5 - 25 mm in diameter with undulating margins. The flowers are of typical pea" shape. They are dull red in colour and occur in short racemes in the leaf axils in spring.  Another exceptionally hardy species of Australian native groundcover/climber,  Rambling habit, grows to 30cm high and 1mt wide.  No maintenance required.

Kennedia prostrata, known as Running Postman, is a resilient Australian native ground cover with striking red pea-like flowers and dark green trifoliate leaves. Ideal for Melbourne gardens, it thrives in well-draining, sandy, loamy, or gravelly soils.

How to Grow in Melbourne:

1. **Location**: Plant in a sunny to partially shaded spot.
2. **Planting**: Space plants 50-100 cm apart for spreading.
3. **Watering**: Water regularly during the establishment phase. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires minimal watering.
4. **Maintenance**: Prune lightly to control growth and remove dead stems. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
5. **Pests**: Generally pest and disease-resistant.

Kennedia prostrata is perfect for ground cover, rockeries, and spilling over retaining walls, adding vibrant color and lush greenery to Melbourne gardens.
