Dichondra repens, also known as kidney weed or lawn leaf, is a species of perennial herbaceous plant in the family Convolvulaceae. It is native to Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Asia, and is commonly grown as a groundcover plant or as a lawn substitute in many parts of the world.

Dichondra repens has small, kidney-shaped leaves that grow on long, trailing stems. The plant is typically low-growing, reaching a height of around 5-10 cm, and produces small, inconspicuous flowers that are usually green or yellow in color. It is a fast-spreading plant that forms a dense mat of foliage, making it an ideal choice for use as a groundcover or as a lawn alternative.

Dichondra repens is a relatively low-maintenance plant that is tolerant of a range of soil types and growing conditions. It prefers a well-drained soil and a position in full sun to partial shade. The plant is drought-tolerant and can survive on infrequent watering, although it will benefit from regular watering during hot, dry weather. In areas with frost, Dichondra repens may die back in winter but will generally recover in spring. The plant is also suitable for growing in containers or hanging baskets, where its trailing stems can be trained to cascade over the edges.
