Callistemon Viminalis Better John™ PBR

Callistemon viminalis Better John has been bred specifically as a dwarf shrub superior to an old favourite in Australian native gardens,  the Callistemon Little John.  This Callistemon specie has improved blue-green toned mature foliage with new silver toned leaves forming in Spring and summer.  This new foliage has a soft hue, almost hairy style texture to it.

Flowers through Spring and Summer, with the traditional Bottlebrush red flowers, which is of course attractive with Australian native birds. 

At maturity better john with reach 1-1.2mt tall and 80cm-1mt wide. Grows best in full sun to part shade. Suits sandy to well drained soils. Tolerates drought and cold.

After initial planting keep barely moist, and then mulching is recommended to keep roots cool.  Some minor Spring pruning is recommended. 

Excellent as a low border shrub or to complement larger natives or as a smaller frontal specimen shrub.
