Aeonium Chocolate

Aeonium ‘Chocolate’ is a striking succulent known for its deep burgundy to near-black rosettes, which develop richer hues in full sun. Its branching habit and fleshy leaves create an eye-catching architectural presence in rock gardens, pots, and xeriscapes.  

Thriving in Australia’s dry conditions, it prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Once established, it requires minimal watering, with occasional deep watering in prolonged dry spells. Protecting it from excessive winter moisture helps prevent root rot, while occasional pruning encourages a fuller shape.  

Ideal companion plants include contrasting succulents like Aeonium ‘Schwarzkopf,’ Agave, and Sedum ‘Gold Mound,’ as well as ornamental grasses for added texture. These pairings create a dynamic, water-wise garden with striking color contrasts and year-round interest.
