Sizing guide
Leptospermum scoparium, commonly known as Manuka or Tea Tree, is a beautiful and versatile shrub or small tree native to New Zealand and southeastern Australia. It is renowned for its medicinal properties and its attractive flowers, which are highly attractive to bees resulting in the production of the famous Manuka honey.
Manuka typically grows to around 2-5 meters in height, with a similar spread. It has small, narrow leaves that are dark green and aromatic when crushed. In spring and summer, the plant produces an abundance of small, five-petaled flowers in shades of white, pink, or red, adding a splash of color to the garden.
To grow Leptospermum scoparium, plant it in a sunny position in well-draining soil. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil types and is relatively low-maintenance once established. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage bushy growth. Manuka is also drought-tolerant once established, making it an excellent choice for gardens with poor soil or limited water availability.
