Strelitzia juncea Narrow leaf Bird of Paradise

A slow-growing, highly sought after, drought-resistant plant with grey-green, tall, rush-like leaf stalks.  This form of Strelitzia is proving highly popular in modern landscaping, looks great in pots or as a contemporary feature plant. HIghly recommended by online plants.

Keep moist if planting into containers. It bears the same striking orange and purple bird-like flowers as Strelitzia reginae. Will grow in full sun to part shade, preferring a moist, well-drained, enriched soil. Water deeply in warmer months but allow to become drier during Winter. Tolerates very hot conditions as well as light frosts. Keep tidy by removing spent flower heads and old leaves.

Grows up to 2mt tall and 1mt wide at maturity.
