Acer Japanese Maple purpureum is a small deciduous tree prized for their beautiful ornamental foliage and shape. Online Plants recommends planting in a semi-shaded, slightly protected area for best results. Will reach 3-4mt at maturity with a width of 2mt. Foliage starts green, changing to purple in Autumn before shedding.

Keep barely moist in summer and keep roots cool with mulching. Protect from harsh summer winds.

Acer Palmatum Atropurpureum, commonly known as Red Japanese Maple, is a popular deciduous tree admired for its deeply lobed, vibrant red to purple leaves that retain their color throughout the growing season, transitioning to brilliant red in autumn. It typically grows to 4-6mt with a similar spread, featuring a graceful, spreading canopy.

Growing Tips:
- Location: Plant in a location with partial shade to full sun. In hotter climates, afternoon shade is beneficial.
- Soil: Prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter.
- Watering: Maintain consistent moisture, especially in the first few years. Avoid waterlogged conditions.
- Mulching: Apply mulch to retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.
- Pruning: Minimal pruning required; remove dead or damaged branches and shape as needed in late winter or early spring.
- Protection: Protect from strong winds to prevent leaf scorch and damage.
- Fertilizing: Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring.

Perfect for adding striking color and architectural interest to gardens, patios, and landscape designs.
