Azalea Kurume Kirin

Azalea Kirin, A small compact shrub that is covered with small rosy pink blossoms.  Excellent in small compact shaded gardens.  Will grow in full sun or part shade with Summer watering. Hardy once established. Plant in a well drained, humus-rich soil that’s slightly acidic. Fertilize in Spring and late Summer with an Azalea specific fertilizer or a complete organic fertilizer. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape. Mulch well during extended dry periods. If flowers are turning mushy this could be a sign of Azalea Petal Blight. Pick off any spent flowers and treat with appropriate fungicides.  

Azalea Kurume Kirin is slightly smaller, tighter growing species,  ideal in containers because of its dense habit.  Looks spectacular when covered in spring flowers,  Consider also as a great border plant in a sheltered position
