Sizing guide
Acer senkaki coral bark maple is a delightful delicate like small tree. Distinguished by pretty coral pink limbs and branches.

It is a large deciduous shrub or small tree to 6m, with coral-red young branches bearing 5-lobed leaves which open pinkish-yellow, becoming green in summer and yellow in autumn. Not really know for the small flowers which are red in colour during summer. Acer palmatum 'Sango Kaku', commonly known as Coral Bark Maple or Coral Bark Tree, is a deciduous tree species that is native to Japan. It belongs to the family Sapindaceae and is widely cultivated for its striking coral-red bark.

Coral Bark Maple typically grows to a height of 5-7 meters and has a spreading, round-shaped crown. It produces medium-green, palmate leaves with 5-7 lobes that turn yellow in the fall. The leaves are accompanied by small, red flowers that appear in spring and are followed by paired, winged samaras in summer.

The tree's most distinctive feature is its bright coral-red bark, which is particularly prominent in winter when the leaves have fallen. The color intensifies in colder weather and becomes more muted in warmer temperatures.

Coral Bark Maple is a slow-growing tree that prefers partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil. It is relatively low-maintenance but requires regular watering, particularly during periods of drought. It is often used in landscaping as a specimen tree or in group plantings, and its striking bark color adds interest to winter gardens. The tree's attractive form and small size also make it suitable for container planting or bonsai cultivation.

Plant in sheltered position in the garden away from dry, hot winds and scorching summer heat.  Keep barely moist with a drip irrigation system or regular watering at the root system. Mulching also will help.
