Grevillea - A Pretty Plant Like Wattle

From a distance, you may end up confusing it with a pretty Wattle. However, this is just one beautiful member of the Proteaceae family referred to as Grevillea.

But why do these amazing flowers look like Wattle? Well, most people believe that this is due to its colour arrangement which is pretty enough to attract the same pollinators as Wattle. These flowers which are zigzag in nature attract different types of insects and birds. Most insect pollinators are usually attracted by yellow flowers, which means that these types of flowers are likely to attract the same bees and wasps. The only difference is that mammals and birds are also part of Wattle pollinators.

In Australia, Grevillea is categorised as an endangered plant species. These plants are only known to grow in wild places.  In the past few years, the plant species were almost disappearing from the earth surface, but lucky enough, the population started increasing since then.  Most of these plants do well in Dunkeld, which is a place where a wide range of Australian beauty can be grown.

Grevillea can at times be described as prostrate. This is because they only grow up to 30 cm high. This, however, is not the case. These plants can grow up to 2m high when cultivated. They produce attractive creamy yellow flowers.

Varieties: Grevillea MoonlightGrevillea Apricot Glow, Grevillea Bonfire, Grevillea Ground Cover, Grevillea Rosmarinifolia, Grevillea Forest Rambler, Grevillea Olivacea, Grevillea Coconut Ice, Grevillea Fireworks, Grevillea Copper Crest, Grevillea Clearview David, Grevillea Canterbury Gold, Grevillea Barklyana Gully, Grevillea Bonnie Prince Charles, Grevillea Deua Flame, Grevillea Endlicheriana Spindly, Grevillea Ivanhoe, Grevillea Gaudi Chaudii

Well, this gives you an idea of what to expect when purchasing this plant online. But not all the information about Grevillea is covered in this article. There are many other plants in the same plant family (Proteaceae). The Wattle, as much as it very much assembles Grevillea from a distance, comes from a different family (Acacia denticulosa).  The plant is known for its gorgeous nature, which gives you a good reason why you should purchase it at Online Plants. Besides, it is also available at a competitive price.
